About Taantghor

Taantghor (তাঁতঘর, "the loom house") is a paikari marketplace for Bangladeshi handloom. Shop owners and online resellers use it to buy saree, lungi, three-piece and gamcha in bulk, directly from the weavers, cooperatives and mahajans who make and stock them.

Why we started

Handloom cloth usually passes through several hands between the loom and the shop. Each step adds cost, and very little of the final price reaches the weaver. At the same time, a shop owner in a district town often has no easy way to find new weavers, compare designs or order without travelling to a haat.

We want to make that trip shorter. Our aim is simple: a fair price, direct from the loom. Weavers reach more shops, and shops get better prices and more choice.

How it works

• Sellers list designs with real photos, a minimum order quantity and tier prices.
• Buyers order the quantities they need, mixing colours of the same design.
• Buyers pay a 25% advance online and the balance at their local transport counter, the way paikari trade in Bangladesh has long worked.
• Each seller ships their part of the order as a separate lot that the buyer can track.

How we verify

Trust matters more than anything in wholesale, so we check both sides:

• Sellers submit a trade licence and NID, and we check the loom or shop before they can list.
• Products are reviewed by our team before they are published.
• Buyers submit a trade licence, or NID with a photo of their shop, before they can check out.
• Payments are verified by our team against the Transaction ID before an order is confirmed.
• Chat is moderated, so deals and payments stay on the platform where both sides are protected.

What we believe

Handloom is slow work, and each piece is slightly different from the next. We think that is worth paying for. We ask sellers to describe their cloth honestly, and we ask buyers to judge it as handmade cloth, not factory cloth.
